Westword Opinion

What is Istari: Music and drumming from around the world. Together, percussionists Chadzilla and Ed Contreras show the roots of modern American music. From Africa and the Middle East to South America and the Caribbean, audiences will enjoy the great drumming, education and humor that is Istari.

Availability: We are perfect for private parties, library assemblies, corporate events and festivals - this duo will highly entertain and educate all audiences

Audience: Participation is a must, as the duo brings audience members on stage to help play the various instruments! Everyone can choose to participate!

We have performed: We have performed: At the Cherry Creek Arts Festival for the past 5 years; The Taste of Colorado (Festival of Mountain and Plain); Hundreds of libraries, Boy Scout Troop functions and many Colorado Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, as well as concerts at Swallow Hill Music Association.

Jen Archer: As an added treat, Istari can also perform with World Class Dancer Jen Archer! Jen has appeared with Ed and Chadzilla numerous times - her skill and passion adds a great dimension to the show!

Music: In August of 2008 we released our debut CD, "ISTARI". Chadzilla decided to write songs based on the depth, worldliness and humor of the show to share with audiences throughout the world. The Istari CD is a result of that effort. Let yourself be taken on a journey through the cultures and sounds of our world. And discover a little about how the history of the ancient drum has affected modern American music.
